The Eversource Energy Center (EEC) is a leader in developing innovative technologies and science-based solutions that help utilities deliver reliable power while strengthening cyber and physical infrastructure security. Through its research and educational programs, the Center is advancing next-generation storm outage forecasting, best practices for healthy and storm-resilient forests, and new technologies that improve electric grid operations and resilience.

High Performance Computing
The high-performance computing center supports daily weather, outage, and flood forecasting for the Eversource Energy Center, as well as large-scale predictive modeling efforts.

The computing center houses:
• 120+ nodes
• 2500+ cores
• 10 TB of RAM
• 800 TB of storage

Tree Biomechanics Laboratory
The Tree Biomechanics Lab uses biaxial clinometers and anemometers to measure tree sway and better understand tree stability. The lab currently monitors 41 trees across Connecticut, with study sites in Torrington, Storrs, and Orange.

Power Grid Simulation Test Bed
The test bed is used to test and validate power grid simulations, including the integration of distributed energy resources, grid modernization methods, and cybersecurity techniques.

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Laboratory
The UAS Lab is equipped with LiDAR, infrared, thermal imaging, and radar technologies for mapping and intrusion detection. Its flight platforms include both fixed-wing and heavy-lift aircraft.
